Calm before the storm…

I sit writing this wondering if it’ll be a Manic Monday or a snow day and regularly refreshing the school’s website for updates. It’s still snowing although occasionally it’s hard to tell if it’s turned to rain, either way with temps set to drop to around -5 over the next few hours ice is guaranteed. I want the schools to close mostly because I’ve forgotten to get the children to do their homework!

I don’t fancy driving in the ice either the main roads are mostly clear, ours is anything but and E’s school is off the main road (unfortunately too far to walk). I read Facebook updates some hoping schools will open whilst others like me don’t fancy the idea of tackling slippery pavements. Ultimately if the school stays open I’ll make the call in the morning. Weather warnings are suggesting unnecessary trips aren’t made and with school work to do at home I don’t think missing a day of school will damage them in the long-term.

If I keep them home I’m bound to regret it by about 10am when I’ll have four children bouncing off the walls. Right now they’re all in bed and I’m enjoying a moment of peace; the sky is glowing and our garden has a fresh blanket of snow covering it. Out the front everything sparkles under the street lights it’s so pretty which may be why this song is in my head…
