Well everyone we’ve almost survived the most miserable month of the year and are heading into February which with lots of love and pancakes is one of my favourite months! I’ve actually succeeded in at least feeling more organised this month and am hoping over the year that’ll begin to reflect on the blog. Over the last few months of 2014 I started writing this Fun Finds feature and have enjoyed it so much I’ve decided to have a go at making it a linky. Your #FunFinds could be absolutely anything stuff you’ve tried, places you’ve visited – I really look forward to seeing what you come up with. So kicking it off here are my finds for January…
Is a free musical e-book for iPads supporting Genetic Disorders UK. The delightful story was designed and written by parents who struggled to find uplifting support and materials their children may relate to following diagnosis. In response the story of an exciting gang of friends, the genies who all have things that they are both brilliant at and struggle with a little often due to medical conditions was born. This lovely free download hopes to raise awareness and acceptance of children with differences and support the charity that helps them. My children have loved listening to the adventures of Flo, Marco, Angel, Ted Oscar and friends and appear very much to accept their differences in a matter of fact manner which is hopefully what the creators would want.
Released in cinemas this Friday 30th January we were very lucky to be invited for a preview of this heart warming new film from Disney. Action-packed from beginning to end the film follows robotics whizz, Hiro, his brother and their friends as they learn to use their genius for good. A devastating turn of events catapults them into the midst of a dangerous plot unfolding in the streets of San Fransokyo, Hiro turns to his closest companion—a robot named Baymax—and transforms the group into a band of high-tech heroes determined to solve the mystery. We laughed, cried and cheered during this film, it gets a huge thumbs up from us – we were very satisfied!
Some of the most exciting news I’ve had this week by far is that the real Hogwarts Express will be steaming into the Warner Bros Studio Harry Potter Tour. They teased us for a week with the news and although I had seen the hoarding when at #DarkArts last year so knew they were extending I could not have guessed this is what it would hold. On March 19th Platform 9 ¾ will be unvieled complete with the original Hogwarts Express train. The permanent feature will see the train on a realistic set of tracks with steam billowing as visitors step onto the platform. The most exciting bit is yet to come – you’ll be able to board the train and sit in the carriage used for filming!! Back on the platform and don’t forget to pick up a souvenir from the brand new train-themed gift shop.
Not just statement of fact but a brand new laundry and dry cleaning service for London and most major cities who made my week! They collected a bag of washing and returned it freshly washed, pressed and hung. This meant for the first time in as long as I can remember I did not have a single item in my ironing pile – pure bliss! The service was wonderful from a very easy to use website to a phone call to advise exactly what to expect of collection and ask if I had any special requirements. From £2 an item with free collection and delivery I would be very tempted to use this service again on particularly busy weeks to lighten the load.
So that’s it from me and now over you, what #FunFinds have you had this January – I can’t wait to hear!!
I’m going to publish this linky on the final week of every month, leaving it open until the last day – I’m a little late this month so you can link until midnight on Sunday 1st Feb and I hope you’ll re-visit next month!
