Family Fun Shopping at The London Designer Outlet…
Usually, family fun and shopping are not two things I’d suggest together but on occasion going shopping with the family is inevitable. It would seem that more and more shopping centres are getting clever to this and making shopping a much more manageable experience with family in tow.
The London Designer Outlet in Wembley really stands out to me as a winner in the family friendly stakes for so many reasons. We visited on Easter Bank Holiday for their Iconic London Event, created to entertain families and of course entice them into the centre. I must admit I was a little apprehensive that on a Bank Holiday with additional events the place would be manic – it was not!
The indoor/outdoors layout of this shopping centre makes it feel really spacious and gives it a feel of centres I’ve experienced abroad – much more casual and relaxed. Most the shops are on the lower and first floors whilst above them are the restaurants and at the very top the Cineworld complex. Outside there’s a playground and cafes, absolutely perfect for a snack break. Each of the areas offer amazing views over the imposing Wembley Stadium with iconic arch stretching overhead.
This area allowed my husband to have a seat with the boys whilst myself and Madam took a stroll around the shops. The range here is ideal for parents, high street faves, sports and shoe shops make it perfect for stocking up for all those extracurricular activities and a back to school haven! The M&S and Next are huge and Next’s children’s section particularly impressive and then there’s Clark’s shoes too! All of which are outlets with up to 70% off high street prices!
After a spot of shopping, we enjoyed a late lunch at Wagamama, a real family favourite of ours. The mini Chicken Katsu Curry is such a perfect and decently sized children’s dish and I know when they’ve had it their hunger will be well satisfied. If this isn’t to your taste though, you won’t struggle to find something that is, there’s over 20 to chose from with plenty of family faves including, Nandos, Frankie & Benny’s, Pizza Express and Subway.
To treat everyone for having come along shopping (although there was really no need because it was such an enjoyable day), we finished off with a trip to Cineworld to see Boss Baby. This is a hilariously funny film all about Tim whose life is turned upside down when his parents bring home his new baby brother. Clearly, it’s his overactive imagination working overtime when he discovers this is no ordinary baby but a walking, talking one with a briefcase! Should he expose him and get his old life back or will he be able to if he doesn’t help the baby on his mission to ensure babies remain the cutest species?
The children thoroughly enjoyed the film which rounded off our day perfectly. You can check the Cineworld listings on their website to see what showings coincide with your visit. There are so many great films out or due to be released very soon for families.
