Alice Underground

Adventures in Wonderland…

Several weeks ago we jumped down a rabbit hole right under Waterloo Station in central London in search of Alice. Yes, this was just as bizarre as it sounds and very exciting too! Adventures in Wonderland and  at The Vaults is a fully immersive children’s theatre experience.

Following a critically acclaimed debut, it returns for a second season from 13th May – 3rd September 2017 and is not to be missed!

Adventures in Wonderland

It is hard to explain quite how incredible this is because it is really like nothing I’ve experienced before so no comparison may be made. Entering a room of curiosities, Alice appears in the mirror and invites you to come and play hide and seek with her. As she disappears, a door opens and you squeeze down a tunnel lined with story books and literally enter the story.

The adventure plays to your inner child as you are lead from room to room in search of Alice it is hard not to become consumed with curiosity as to what will happen next. You are not just watching but playing a part in the performance, starting with your choice of your path during your meeting with the White Rabbit – will you ‘eat me’ or ‘drink me’?

On your journey, amongst others you will encounter, The Tweedle Twins, Cheshire Cat and Queen of Hearts. Their individual performances are brilliant and quite fascinating, they take place all around you making it almost impossible not to become completely absorbed in the experience.

Aimed at children 5-10, mine absolutely loved it although I would say there is a possibility some children may find it a little scary, some of the routes between rooms look dark and the characters are very close. Having said that, I highly recommend this for a summer holiday activity, you will not be disappointed and treated to an entirely unique performance.
