Super Scouts and a Vango Sleeping Bag Giveaway…

Posted on October 13, 2013July 4, 2018 by Family Four Fun

Both my husband and eldest two children are all involved in scouting; Daddy is a leader whilst E is a Cub and Madam just started in Beavers. It really is a wonderful thing for them to be a part of. This year E has been on 4 camps and madam on 2, they go without hesitation un-deterred by nights away from me, bad weather or any other discomfort.

I am filled with pride as I watch them dressed in their uniform with bags packed, full of confidence, enthusiasm  for adventure, new experiences and lessons in the great outdoors. As much as I miss them, I also enjoy the peace and a little bit of time to focus on the smaller two. I love hearing stories of their fun and activities and recently saw pictures from camp.

I realised I don’t usually put much thought into it and thank goodness I saw these after because as delighted as I am for E to participate in these activities I don’t think I’d have slept if I had!

Could there be a better way for a young boy to spend a weekend..?

The camps aren’t free but I do feel they’re incredibly good value for all these activities, food and childcare. It’s the equipment that does stretch the finances a little. There’s outdoor fleece wear, wetsuits, camp mats, pillows, wellies, sleeping bags, waterproof, rucksack the list is enormous. Even buying a couple of sizes too big they’re constantly outgrowing it all and this year E got too large for a child’s size sleeping bag so has to have a woman’s one and outgrew an expensive pair of hiking shoes.

I was delighted when Travel Outdoors offered to send me a sleeping bag from their children’s selection. Because E & T have recently had new ones and C is desperate to join them on a camping adventure I opted to get him a Vango Nitestar Mini. This is perfect for families wanting to take toddlers away on camping trips because to keep them entirely cosy it is best a sleeping bag is a snug fit. This mummy style model is perfect for that designed to be shorter and thinner especially for little ones.

VANGO NITESTAR

  • 2 season performance – perfect for camping during late spring and summer
  • Flat, padded head rest, offering a safer alternative to a drawcord hood
  • Free-sliding two-way zips down both sides – doubles up as a blanket
  • Designed specifically for children with a shorter length and smaller width

C adores it and it fits him perfectly, he’s spend just about every night recently in it practicing for a family scout camp with Daddy.

GIVEAWAY

I have one of these sleeping bags to giveaway for your own outdoor family adventures, they are available in both blue and pink and the winner may select their favourite. Entry via the Rafflecopter widget before midnight on Friday 1st November where full terms & conditions may be read.

My children love everything about the outdoors. Their favourite outdoor activity would probably be riding their bikes/scooters in the countryside. They love camping too and the eldest is in Beavers (he has been camping with them too!). x
