This infographic on TV remote habits made my giggle so much when I saw it especially the first line about ‘brother against sister’! This is where the remote control battle begins in our house, so much so that Madam has trained herself to wake up first so she can take control. The child who holds the remote has power over all others, even though they mostly want to watch the same channel! This is because since the creation of TV you can pause the one with the remote takes charge of all toilet breaks and trips to the kitchen for snacks on lazy days.
I almost never have the remote in our house, in fact I prefer not to take responsibility and if for some reason I have the remote this usually means the battle has become too intense and we are now on shut-down! Hiding the remote would not be adequate protection in our house so to ensure she keeps control Madam must carry it everywhere she goes. This means that after bedtime when it’s hubby’s turn to take the remote it must first be hunted down and could be anywhere – it is not at all uncommon to find it in the bathroom.
With the children back to school this week I thought for once I’d use the rare moments of peace to catch up with the episodes of Strictly I’ve been recording. Could I find it? Of course not! I have pulled apart sofas, toy boxes, searched under covers and every other possible place I could imagine. No one know where it may be and although I can flick channels the old fashioned way, I can’t get into anything else. I’ve started to suspect that the youngest has now joined the battle of the remote or in fact solved it as Fifi’s favourite place to post things is in the bin!!
Who has control of the remote in your house?
