I don’t think Madam and her friend could’ve been more excited when I told them we were off to look at all the treats in store at Claire’s for Christmas!! I got the sleeps countdown every morning from Madam and then two of them in unison after school for nearly 2 weeks prior…
Finally the morning of our visit arrived so we collected Madam’s friend and skipped, bounced, ran down the road to Claire’s as they just couldn’t wait any longer – even the traffic lights were told to hurry up. These two girls were really on a mission!
I have to say I’m also am a big fan of Claire’s; it is like a treasure trove packed from floor to ceiling with girly delights and everything reasonably priced. I think my favourite bit is looking at the huge variety of pretty and novel earrings but the sparkly eye-shadows were a very close second on this occasion.
I already knew I’d be shopping in Claire’s this Christmas when Madam requested a mood ring after watching ‘My Girl’. I wasn’t sure at first where I’d find one, the one I used to wear many years ago was bought in one of the eclectic paraphernalia shops that used to line Carnaby Street before it became upmarket.
It wasn’t until I was looking at Claire’s online for make-up to fill up the huge vanity trolley I’ve bought her that it struck me that if I was going to find one anywhere this’d be the place and sure enough it was. Hubby isn’t too keen on her utter obsession for make-up but I can’t really judge as I know at her age I was much the same. These days even though I don’t wear much I still love looking through all the colours, sparkles and watching whenever the children are getting face-paints done.
The girls were spoilt for choice in Claire’s and weren’t too sure where to start. They have a wonderful selection for younger girls including teeny false nails in a range of bright and eye-catching designs – I wanted a set myself actually! They picked out a set of those each and a huge pack of lip-glosses and sparkly nail polishes to share.
Make-up couldn’t be resisted and Madam got the compact she’s be yearning for, for quite some time. This one delights them by opening automatically on the touch of a button and the items inside are little girl appropriate just ever so slightly shimmery eye shadow and lip gloss – nothing that would offend Daddy too much!
They were quite some time looking over everything which luckily allowed me time to sneakily purchase the important Christmas gift and with gifts on 3 for 2 may have got a few extra bits! They eventually settled on two final mementos of their fun visit – a keyring for their school bag and best-friend’s necklaces. They got a lovely collection of goodies to take home where they were put aside for a sleepover party they were having the next weekend.
The sleepover was for her friend’s birthday so this was her present from Madam; taking them out to pick their own gifts isn’t something I would’ve thought about if we hadn’t been invited but it was such a lovely treat for the girls and inexpensive to get them each a couple of items that I would definitely consider this for a pre-birthday or Xmas treat in the future!
