Opposite Borgin & Burkes store full of horcruxes and other sinister artefacts; the Malfoy Manor fireplace has been extended to display the full malevolent scene of the Death Eater’s meeting in the Deathly Hallows Part 1. Looking overhead, I wasn’t sure if it was the Dementor or the Death Eater I was being stalked by causing the cold chill!?
I think the Death Eater may have been attempting to prevent me leaving to discover more secrets. The normal exit to the back-lot was blocked and outside hoarding. There is definitely an extension being built and I strongly suspect more new features and permanent exhibits soon to be revealed.
There was also a visit with the Mario Bros who’ve been sharing with us all the best new Nintendo releases for Christmas. For full details of what not to miss off your list this year, watch out for our guides. There really is a game for everyone and lots of new versions of the most family friendly titles including Smash Bros, Kirby and of course Yoshi. We also got to experience the most talented balloon modeller making all characters from balloons – amazing!
I can’t believe it’s half-term; not necessarily because the time went so fast – I’ve just been so busy trying to ignore all I have to do that I haven’t had time to think about it.
I recently read an article ‘Stop the Glorification of Busy’ and understood and empathised with so much of it. Life so often seems like a competition of how ‘busy’ we are and if we’re not then maybe we’re somehow less interesting, successful, important or something? This attitude annoys the hell out of me; I usually accept having loads to do and being rather busy as a way of life but just occasionally and it’s a feeling that’s lingered for a while I get overwhelmed. I embrace being ‘busy’ and more often than not enjoy it when it means there’s something fun to do or great places to go. In between that it means lots of letters to school, housework, school runs, shopping and other chores that I endure. I don’t think that having more or less to do than anyone else is something that defines us and if anything I definitely crave less busy…
So to celebrate it being the half-term and a whole extra hour in the weekend; we enjoyed stepping back in time with Victorian dress-up and the Adventurer DVD which is out on Monday 27th. Madam fell absolutely in love with the costume, especially gloves, feather boa and fascinator just as I know I would’ve at her age. We’re going to spend a quiet day before Halloween making it suitably spooky for a party she’s going to on Friday. The film was very good too the children were hooked as was I to this period style mystery adventure.
Hope everyone else is enjoying the half-term break!
