I know that talking about summer fashion while we are still in the depths of winter, might seem strange to some of you but bear with me, all will be revealed…
All year round summer wear
The other day I was online looking for a few bits and pieces when I came across the simplybe.co.uk swimwear pages. It was that which triggered the idea for this article. I was stunned to see that they were still offering their customers a choice of around 500 bikinis, tankinis, one-pieces and support swimwear, at this time of the year.
Which is when it struck me. Some items that we think of as summer clothes are actually year-round clothing items. For example, a lot of us go swimming throughout the year, so it makes sense for retailers to stock certain summer clothing items year round.
Why shopping for summer clothes in the winter makes sense
As a result, a lot of retailers continue to stock summer clothing in the colder months. You may not see much of it on display in their stores but if you go online you will usually find a very good level of choice.
A great way to grab yourself a bargain
A lot of these clothes will be discounted. So, shopping for summer clothes during the winter is a really good way to save money. Plus, buying items a little in advance is a good way of spreading the cost.
It is a great way of making sure that you do not fritter any cash you have left over at the end of the week away on something silly. If you’ve spent it on a few t-shirts it is impossible to waste it on a takeaway or similar.
What to buy and how to make the right decisions
However, you do need to be careful about shopping for clothes so far in advance. There are a few pitfalls that you will want to avoid.
If you are buying for the kids it is important to remember to take into account growth spurts. You are probably safe buying them tops but buying items like shorts, swimwear and shoes is probably best left until the spring.
If you or your partner are dieting or following a new fitness regime it may be best not to buy any summer clothes right now but you can still treat yourself to some accessories and footwear.
It is also worth taking a few minutes to find out about upcoming trends before you buy too much you don’t want to end up looking too out of fashion but with beachwear, t-shirts and accessories this shouldn’t be much of a problem. Stick to the classic cuts and colours and you should be ok, for example, maxi dresses have been on trend now for several years and they look set to continue to be fashionable holiday attire. This article features a list of classic clothes and cuts that never go out of fashion it’s really worth taking a look at it before you go shopping. If it is some inspiration that you need, some of my previous style articles might prove to be helpful.
