Fun family food at Carluccio’s…

Posted on October 16, 2019October 17, 2019 by Family Four Fun

I received products, services or tickets to an event mentioned in this post free of charge in return for an honest review. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I would use personally and any opinions expressed are my own.

When choosing where to eat when out as a family, we can be quite boring and predictable; with a variety of tastes and needing somewhere we know is going to feel comfortable and welcoming for a larger family we tend to stick to the same tried and tested places. This summer we added a new one to our list, a place that it’s really quite shocking we’ve not tried before…

Carluccio’s are an Italian restaurant chain and their restaurants are conveniently placed on many bigger high streets, in shopping centres etc and so are often to be found when you need a last-minute spot for lunch or dinner with the family. The menu has something for everyone, deliciously fresh salads and breads, filling pasta dishes and full steak and seafood meals – I love how much seafood there is on the menu, it’s a favourite of mine!

We visited over summer whilst they were running a kids eat for £1 offer at restaurants across London, this is a great deal and one I’ve spotted them running quite regularly in the holidays so something to look out for. The kid’s menu is usually £6.25 and includes a starter, drink, main meal and dessert. From the 5 choices of mains, which I think is a perfect number for children to pich from, both of mine chose the lasagne. The portion was the perfect size for my children and I thought may even be on the large size after they’d snacked on bread, cucumber and carrot sticks to start but they obviously thoroughly enjoyed it, eating every last bit.

We ate in their Kensington restaurant which has to be one of the most perfectly located for families visiting London, just across the road from South Kensington station, if you’ve been visiting the museums this is the perfect place to stop. The restaurant was large and light and sitting on a large table by the window, we could enjoy watching the world go by as we ate.

Both being seafood lovers, myself and older daughter chose the Seafood Linguine although if I knew she was going for that I think I’d have picked the Swordfish Muddica, so that’s something to go back for. My teenage son chose the Sirloin Steak and we shared a side of Broccoli and everything was absolutely divine. The portion sizes were large and should certainly satisfy most appetites after a busy day in the city. Whilst I passed on dessert and enjoyed a coffee instead, the children all enjoyed ice-cream – I don’t know where they put it all!?
